Dr. Bill Williams Speaks to Hockey Coaches and Trainers

Saturday, Nov. 22 at North Gwinnett High School, Dr. Bill Williams, team dentist for the Gwinnett Gladiators, the North Gwinnett Bulldogs and the Georgia Force participated in a medical conference with six other physicians for metro Atlanta hockey coaches and trainers.

The event was well received by the 40 in attendance. Plans for next year's event are already established. Prior to the Lacross season, another conference is also being planned for that group of coaches and trainers by the medical team.

If you have a son or daughter in team sports, contact sports, or where any activity may cause a blow to the teeth or jaw, then a custom made protective dental mouth guard is highly recommended by the panel of experts from the North Gwinnett Conference.

Dr. Williams, as a member of the American Academy of Sports Dentistry, supports the use of custom mouthguards for all team sports and contact sports participants. He is the only certified Maher Mouthguard professional in Georgia. The Maher Mouthguard is the official mouthguard of the Arena Football League.

Couldn't ask for better weather

Suwanee had Jack Frost nipping at her nose over the weekend as snow steadily fell all day long on Saturday. I was in the garage apartment doing electrical work and even there where it was 28 degrees inside I had to stop and look out the window at the beauty of the falling snow on the bare pines.

Ace Hardware sold out of sleds on Friday night and were getting low on trash can lids by noon on Saturday. We all love the snow when it comes to town and rush to take full advantage as we know it will be gone tomorrow.

Perhaps old Jack Frost has more in store for us this winter. I hope so, because next time my wife, Tiffany, and I will be ready by the fire with my hot chocolate and our two dogs.

Suwanee's Hometown Plumber

Money Magazine recently listed Suwanee as one of the top ten places in the nation to live, and Aaron Plumbing knows why! We love working and living in Suwanee, and our Suwanee customers, our neighbors, are always our favorite! We have been audited repeatedly by independent companies, who have found that we maintain one of the highest customer satisfaction levels in the area.

The residents of Suwanee uphold a high standard of living, and our plumbing company caters to these expectations. We are family owned and operated, and because we are a smaller business, we are able to dedicate the time and attention necessary to please each and every one of our customers.

We know that our Suwanee customers expect more than the stereotypical plumber, and we guarantee that our technicians will be clean, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. We’re happy to answer your questions, and will explain all of the work and prices before we start! We offer free estimates for large jobs, and can normally offer same day service for Suwanee residents. Just call our office at 770-945-3453 to schedule an appointment.

EpiCenter of Gwinnett

Suwanee is like a donut....a Boston cream-filled donut! The first taste you get is that sweet chocolate outter layer. Suwanee looks good from the outside, to those just passing through, seeing the Town Center Park, the green spaces, the new businesses growing up all along Hwy 317, 23, PIB, and Sat.Blvd. Suwanee does dress up for the party well!

Then there are the neighborhoods of Suwanee, the classic homes of old town and the classy new homes off Johnson and Moore Roads...these homes are the bread of Suwanee, which from raw materials became substance and formed the structures that created its form, the houses, the subdivisions, the neighborhoods we love to call home, call our beloved Suwanee.

But, the real sweetness of Suwanee is what's inside those donuts, those homes... the people. Like a rich filling, the people of Suwanee are what makes us smile so much. We call Suwanee home because the warmth of our friends keeps us company on cold nights. We call Suwanee home because of the prayers of the Saints which are with us and for us in our troubled times. We call Suwanee home because we can rejoice together over the victories by North Gwinnett football or the Gwinnett Gladiators or the Georgia Bulldogs. We walk the fairways together, pedal along the bike paths and hike the Richard Trice trail with our dogs. We are family, we are a favored people in God's land. We are Suwaneeans. Its enough to make you smile.

Suwanee's Giving Spirit

Kenya Medical Outreach, Inc. has been collecting supplies and delivering aid to small villages in remote Kenya since 1999. The mission outfit is based right here in Suwanee, GA and takes volunteers of all walks of life to Kenya to deliver aid each year.

What sets this mission apart from most is that Kenya Medical Outreach serves small villages with little or no infrastructure and little outside contact at all. Some of the villages KMO has developed relationships with National Geographic can't even gain entry to.

The greatest need in the Kenyan villages today is a source of safe drinking water. To find out how you can help please contact Justin Williams at justinwilliams@suwaneedental.com

If you would like to be a part of an upcoming safari, meaning great journey in Swahili, please contact KMO for more information.

Suwanee may boast hometown claim to NASCAR's next superstar

NASCAR driver Tyler Williams has been dazzling fans at every speedway he touches. Smooth driving and clean racing is what has made Tyler well liked on and off the track.

When Tyler isn't hurdling around the track you can catch him studying race film or researching his competition. This driver has determination and the skill to take the dream all the way to the Sprint Cup.

Tyler has recently been seen in Charlotte, NC testing with an unnamed NASCAR program. Rumor has it Tyler strapped into the car and was only tenths of a second off the pace of the NASCAR veteran he was testing with.

Suwanee, lets get behind Tyler and cheer him all the way to victory lane in the Sprint Cup!!

Suwanee Business Alliance

Last evening the Suwanee Business Alliance (SBA) had their monthly meeting. SBA's meeting and networking gathering took place at Suwanee's favorite Dentist's office, Suwanee Dental Care. Members and visitors were treated to wonderfully prepared snacks and desserts prepared by CTK Catering (ctkcatering.com). Dr. Williams and his staff welcomed guests and gave tours of the newly renovated office. Check out SBA's website for more information on their events.

Ippolito's has the YUM Factor

I had a craving for lasagna last night and knew exactly where to go. Ippolito's at the Suwanee Town Center is the perfect spot. Nice atmosphere, smiling service, and some of the most authentic tasting Italian dishes in Atlanta! We sat by the front window and did some people watching as we enjoyed our evening. My wife had a delicious looking pizza and I, of course, had the lasagna. Which was large enough for me to enjoy it again for lunch today. Ippolito's reminds always feels friendly and warm. I definitely cast my vote for best Italian to Ippolito's. Make sure you go hungry!

There's More To Suwanee Than Meets The Eye

You could call this place Smile Central--everyone in Suwanee is smiling for some reason. Suwanee Smiles is the brainchild of my child, Justin Williams. But he's not so small a child now, having graduated from the U. of South Carolina in political science and married this summer to Tiffany Gillespie who also graduated from UGA this summer. It was his central idea to put the logo on coasters and stickers of I Love Suwanee and to pass them around the city as a rally point about what we think about our town. So now we have a blog to share about the greenest city in these parts. We have a blog to register our feelings about growth, progress, jobs, parks, traffic, schools and neighborhoods...too much going on to keep in the dark. We want to shine the light on what is good and true. We want to create a smile on your face as you read and see what lights up our lives here in TOP TEN SUWANEE.

DO YOU LOVE SUWANEE??

If the answer is yes, then get involved. Tell everyone why you love Suwanee. What brought you here? What can we, as a community, do to make Suwanee even better?

Send me an email: andrea@suwaneedental.com and I will add you to the contributors list which will allow you to log on to the blog and write and publish your stories and ideas for Suwanee!!

Why do I love Suwanee?

I love Suwanee because of all the friendly faces and easy access to all the things I enjoy. I can hop in the car and get to great shopping, local eateries or a dog park in less than 10 minutes. I love driving by North Gwinnett High School and seeing all the school spirit signs. It gives me the small town feel while being just a short drive away from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta.

Some of my favorite places to eat are in Suwanee. I frequent Mori House for their fantastic sushi and japanese dishes. Cinco is another one of my favorite places in the area, with its super yummy mexican flavors. There is something here for everyone and you always get great southern hospitality no matter which cuisine you choose.

All in all, Suwanee provides me with a strong feeling of community and ownership. I feel that my voice is heard and that I matter. Most people can't say that about the places they live, and that makes me feel proud to say: "I love Suwanee".

MONEY MAGAZINE'S Article voting Suwanee into the Top 10 Best Places to Live

Population:
11,200
Median home price (2006): $293,868
Average property taxes (2006):$2,311
Pros: Green space, affordable housing
Cons: Traffic, I-85 interchange

Six years ago the residents of Suwanee voted to more than double their property taxes. The payoff: a boost from 28 acres of green space to more than 270, and a feeling of investment in their hometown. That's abundantly clear at the newly developed Town Center. Built on a heavily trafficked downtown corner, it meshes park space, retail and office properties and housing into one multiuse plaza - and residents have embraced it in a big way. Housing is reasonable, and schools are topnotch.

Though the town has planned recent development deliberately, the area around Interstate 85, which runs through Suwanee's southeastern corner, lacks for aesthetics but not for congestion. Still, the rest of the city has a lot to offer.
